It's real hard to get listed on DMOZ so does it worth to post on a newly launched web directory if they have well organized categories and sub categories in thousands?
Google gives very low value to the directory links. I believe it is better to obtain one quality backlink from a real website than even hundreds from the directories.
Gosh what a bunch of genius responses here. Every site was new once. If the directory is well-run, why does being new mean it is not worth submitting to? Besides, it could become the next DMOZ or Best of the Web and you'll have had the benefits of a listing since the early days of the site. A directory listing can only cause you harm if you use the same link text all over the web in a substantially large link-building campaign. That was primarily what the Penguin update was about, not an attack on directories.
I don't know it is harmful or not. Just try and wait for results if new one gives great effects, then you continue otherwise drop it:
It's best to submit to directorys what have a pagerank of at least 3 or above. When you find a directory you haven;t seen before, and it doesn't display it's pagerank, use a pagerank checking tool to make sure the directory you're submitting to is of good quality.
PR does not equal quality. The site can stink and still have PR if it was built on a dropped domain or purchased high PR backlinks.
If it's a GOOD directory, that's looking professional and seems to have a future, I don't see the reason to avoid listing in it. I am pretty picky with the sites I choose to be listed in, but would jump to submit an URL to a nice directory that seems to have a good future.
My question, what are you looking for from a directory submission? Is it traffic or backlink. If it is all about traffic, then you should move on to another one since newly created directory won't brings benefit to your site. Why? Because it also struggling to get quality traffic. But if you're looking for backlink, then it is worth to go.
