Does it take longer to move up rankings in Google

I have gotten a lot of info from this forum. It has helped tremendously. I have been targeting words like Nissan Titan Forum, Nissan Titan Club, I don't seem to be getting anywhere with Google though. On the other hand Yahoo has moved me up quite quickly. I am #7 when you search for Nissan Titan Forum and #5 when you search for Nissan Titan Club. This has helped me increase my membership on the site by over 130 members this month alone. Is there anything I need to do different to move up with Google now, or do I just need to wait.

That's why you don't rank well for the homepage. Remember, Google ranking is all about 'votes'. The more site vote for you by linking to you, the higher you rank.

Get more links with those phrases in the anchor text aiming at the page you want to rank higher!

If you have clubs/forums with hundreds of pages, it could be helpful to join the coop network to get links coming in to your sites for free and in large quantity.

 

See thats what I don't understand I have added links to my site on dozens of forums and directories. I have also set up several link exchanges with other Nissan sites. I have worked on my Meta tag info. Added news and all sorts of other content. Google is just giving me slow results it seems like.

You are right in thinking there is delay in efforts actually working. If the links do show in Yahoo then you're on your way of getting there. But the rule of thumb still is: Get 10 more link for each link you have already!
