I got about 4 sites waiting to be approved. There is nothing I can think of that would hinder them from submission as they are right on topic and seo friendly. My first one was submited at least 5-6 months ago and my last one about 2 weeks ago.

Pretty much the same thing with yahoo dir and alexa. Is it just me?

    Hi alex!

    I'm curious.

Why you think being "seo friendly" is one of the criteria used for selection in dmoz? Or in Yahoo Directory? It doesn't appear in any of the materials I've seen.

    Help me out here please.

My question is, if you're a professional webmaster with seo knowledge, why are you concerned with having your sites listed in dmoz?

He never said he was a professional webmaster. However, Winifred is right, the value of being listed in dmoz has decreased rapidly over the years. I would suggest that you never check entry for dmoz or yahoo. It's a nice to have and you should really just submit and forget.

Through my experience and since I am in DMOZ I've found that one of the most important thing is that your site has to be a quality website or else it will never get in.

Quality as in, unique design, original high quality content, etc.:)

Do you think that using website templates will adversely affect approval because the design is not then unique? That would be interesting

Easily found unique content is what we're after.

So long as a site's not too user hostile, we don't care about the layout/template/design or how 'modern' it looks.

By SEO friendly I mean there are no mistakes on the site that could affect consideration. Quality content being part of "SEO friendliness". It would be nice to get an incoming link from dmoz or yahoo dir. My sites show up in all the major search engines with top rankings but I am looking to drive more traffic to them. They are not commercial sites but more arts/design/photography portfolios.

It does not take eternity maybe 10 to 20 years....:)

Come on, look at the threads around you saying about the same thing. I think you would know the answer just reading the threads. pixeladd has pointed out nicely, stop creating such threads when there are dozens of them available. You may just want to post your experiences in an existing thread rather than open a new one. Thread closed and good luck.
