    Hi All,

I've started to think that reciprocal link are bad idea. Why?
I am talking about directory that offer regular link for $xx and then free one with reciprocal link.

Let's face it the ones that we will choose this method are the one with crapy websites... so they will add your site to their bad website - which may affect your Google position. And your link will be there, even if you don't confirm the website.

    Am I right?

Just because they make an offer does not mean you have to accept ...

Treat them just like you would any other site (paid or free). If they don't meet your standards refuse the listing.

I was surprised at how few even bother to ask why they were declined.

My friend -- wake up --

Here you are talking about reciprocal links and there people are talking about declaring paid links illegal:mad:

We must go there and post our strong opposition -( I have so far posted 4 comments).

Anyway - reciprocal links are not good in either way.:(

So we are supposed to drop everything and wring our hands over something we cannot control?

We will learn to adapt and survive, life will go on.

Maybe reciprocal links will be still acceptable.

Man you got to try some low test coffee or something. ;)

From a webmaster's perpspective, I don't give backlinks to directories.

I only give links that are of interest to my visitors. Directories don't fit the bill.

If a backlink is required, I don't submit.

not all of them are crappy as you thought at all.

since you have the choice yourself, then you have nobody to blame here.

my tip to you is that you should choose carefully and ask for other friends and professionals before going for one.

ya, most of them will add your link on their links farm page, which has tons of links, no pr or traffic.

    Crappy

I think reciprocal links are not good. You had to put a link on your website, and if you put too many directory links on that page, your submission will be rejected by directory owners. But where can we put the reciprocal link? We can't use our main page for the reciprocal link!

Only allow reciprocal submissions if the links page is linked from homepage, otherwise its useless.

Well, **TOO MANY** reciprocal links are bad. Having several reciprocal links within your niche is pretty normal. All the top directories link to each other. All the major SEO blogs link to each other.

In fact I'd go so far as to say that if you didn't have several reciprocal links within your niche, it would be a signal to Google of a poor quality site - it would mean that people in your niche aren't voting for you.
