Does it matter if backlink points to different url?

what difference does it make if my backlink to my home page is
1. http://www.domainname.com/
2. http://www.domainname.com
3. http://www.domainname.com/index.html

In researching some of my backlinks I see most to no. 2 but some to 1 and 3? Should I focus on one domain url, and if so which one?

 

there is no difference in 1 and 2, but regd. 3 i am not sure what it makes diff. seowise.

 

Well they all point to my home page but I would prefer, of course that I get "credit" for the links to my homepage and not have a dilution of links to my homepage due to the index.html version? Sigh.......

 

No as long as you have a 301 redirect that sends them all to a single page.

 

It might even help to look natural.

 

use 301 redirect to made these different url redirect to http://www.domainname.com/

google it: http://www.google.com/search?q=301+...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

why www.domain.com is better than domain.com in a sense of 301 redirect??

everyone's been suggesting to use www.domain.com instead of domain.com

I prefer domain.com and in fact, i got more indexed with domain.com without WWW

any thoughts on that?

this is called as gost link, this means both of the 3 links points to one page and not more, and this is not good for your page or site seo, because Serp or another bot denote 3 links like 3 page.
suppose there is 6 backlinks(points to each 2 backlink to 1 link), implies that you have only 2 backlink and not more.
but if all the 6 links points to one of them , this implies you have a page with 6 backlinks.
