For most articles I don't think this would be worthwhile. If the article was particularly interesting with a wide target audience, it would be a good way to get the article republished more. Your article links may count for more while your article is featured, but those benefits would likely go away once it is no longer featured. Personally I would rather take that $100 and pay a freelance writer to write 8-10 more articles.
I have to agree with vansterdam. article marketing is one of the most effective ways to market your site. Utilizing quality and unique articles can cause a stampede of traffic and recognition for your site, but paying $100 dollars to have a single article featured isn't really very cost effective. I use goarticles as do many article marketers, but I believe they would do better to sell you a spot where you could host maybe 7 articles over 2 weeks. That's for them to decide. Follow vansterdam's advice and spend your money on more articles.
As the above suggestions go, I give them my THUMBS UP. If you suppose your article is so unique, then try to break it still and post one starting point which arises the reader's interest in some of the ezine sites and direct the readers from there to your site for more information. Shelling out $100 for 2 weeks is just like, money gone thru the drain. No good at all.
Especially with goarticles, money for featured article is total waste. Try buying text ads at TeliAd for that money
