Does It Help To Put Articles On Your Forum?

If I create a separate forum on my forum site just for articles about the topic of my forum, will it help in the SERPS for these keywords? Is there a good strategy for doing this, maybe to go after long tail phrases?

For instance if my site is about widgets, what if I dedicate one post to each kind of widget...1 post about blue widgets, 1 post about red widgets, etc? Will these posts get ranked well for these terms if I use good keyword density or are these articles a waste of time?

 

I do not have any idea. infect I never do this.

 

The only thing I would think is that the traffic will be drawn to your site for the wrong purpose.

A very valid point. I am about to start a forum and I will be putting up articles because I think it is a good idea. So go ahead give it a try.
