Would it matter if I have two sites of same niche with similar sort of content both on same IP?

IP doesn't matter, but content does. If these 2 websites are duplicate, you can get penalized.

similar content for similar niche is fine, as long as the content is not the same.

regarding IP, it doesnt matter you have the same IP for 2 sites or 200 sites. as long as all the sites are not heavily interlinked, one IP is fine.

i think if your sites on the same shared ip and having similar ideas it will be ok
but if there sites have duplicate content Whether they are on the same shared ip or NOt, you will be in the wrong side

Thank you every one for your replies. Well, the content is similar not same and I don't think it would create any problems.

If you have duplicate content for 2 sites, there is high chance for google penalizing your sites.

If the gist of the content is the same and also written in the same context with very similar words, then there can be a penalty for duplicate content.

    It doesn't matter provided that:

    - You don't duplicate content
    - You don't interlink them

Keep in mind that a same IP might be shared (for shared hosting) by hundreds of sites. As long as you don't break the two rules above, you should be fine.

I see now that was on my mind asking also my self if same IP of different sites does matter. Now I know the answer into it. As the conversation here I get the idea the it does not matter but if the content is duplicate there is a violation. Thanks for this information.

Mostly the IP doesn't matter but if any site on an IP gets penalized then it may also put negative affect on other sites sharing the same IP.
