Contacted some supposed to be guru's that assured me that IP change doesn't affect the ranking, yesterday. Today those guys call back saying they aren't so sure. What's the truth? Does IP change affect rankings in any way?
IP and rankings are completely independent and they are NOT related in terms of SEO. so don't worry about it.
if u change the host it wont affect the ranking u, but u have to take care that site should not be down for long time.
I can back up the previous posts. Have had experience with this. Changing IP for the website does not effect your results. However if you have a downtime that is too long, bots will notice it. This can result in declining of search results, however if you get it up again it will increase relatively fast again. Cause the bot knows "it's back", so to say.
IP change doesn't matter. But your server location does. Depending on where your server is located, your site will be given preference on regional search engines, like if you are hosted in UK, then you rank higher on Google UK but not other regional search engines. On the international arena it has less or no effect though.
Hmm, I'm not sure this is entirely true. I have moved a site based in Australia over to the USA and have seen very little difference in rankings anywhere. It might have some effect if the site is new but an established site isnt going to be effected by moving the site to a new country.
Think about it. Somebody types in what they want to find, and Google fetches what they consider to be the most relevant pages to the user's query. How does your IP address factor into whether or not your page is a good match? Google's #1 concern is showing relevant results because that's what make people use them again, and that's what allows them to run advertising.
This sounds interesting? Can you back this up? Because I have a few "local" websites, hosted in another country. When you say that different domain gives different results, I agree. However, isn't this because of the language that is used on the website? Doesn't that define what local domain from google should pay extra attention to your domain. When you look on www.digpagerank.com (not spam, I wish ), you'll see the PR given to your domain by each server. For my domains all servers award the same PR.
