I have come accross sites: 1) I think ALL internal links on index page (Over 80) 2) Have a few categories that lead to sections of site with further linking. So, 1) Anyone experimented with both options? 2) Would one or the other get more or less traffic? Assuming everything held equal or maybe even changing from one method to the other on the same site. THanks,
It is not recommended to have too many links on any one page. That would cause problems with search engine spiders. Some only crawl 50 - 100 links per page. This could prevent your pages from all getting indexed. You would also be spreading your link juice evenly over all of your pages which probably is not what you want. It is best practice to modularize your website into separate sections. Just ensure that all of your pages are accessible within 2 clicks if possible.
Just make sure all your pages have links to the index page but not nessarily the other way around. They way you can increase the rank on the index page. BTW - the more pages the more you can push rank to the index page! Have a good read of the link below to better understand it. http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank_calculator.php
quality internal link plays a big role in SERPs the better the qiality of your internal link the better rankings you might obtain.
well what i do for internal pages is that each and everyone has a keyword linking to domain and it is the topic of the page is about. So an internal page about dog food will link dog food to domain name... and soo on thus i get a shit load of keywords pointing.... i believe that is ok
we can put 100 link per pages that is good for out website. I can't say we we must have to put only 100 but we can add 100 or more than 100. but best is below 100. ok and second thing is that your internal page linking is must be in hierarchy structure. so crawler and visitor go in particular page with out misguide the path. I think so internal structure is very important and basic factor to optimize your website.
If the purpose is to focus PR on the index page - do put the internal links to index. Otherwise, you may want to replace those links to non-PR-transferring ones (with JS or rel=nofollow). Anyways, from the point of usability, there always should be a way for a visitor to go back at the homepage, so you should provide some way to do that in any case
