Most of your comments are correct. A .com or .net is much more valuable than a .info. Where a .info domain would work great for a blog, an article site, or sites with a lot ot content, it wouldn't work as great for let's say an e-commerce site for example. So each ltd technically serves a different purpose, at least they were meant to. Their value is definitely based on popularity among other factors, otherwise they would all cost the same to register.

As far as being indexed by search engines, the ltd is definitely ignored.

Most of my domains i buy these days are all INFO, who can say no to $1.99 extensions, unless i am developing a really good site, that i want to look expensive and rich in content e.t.c i will always use INFO.

    Info ftw!

    Will.

You are incorrect. I have a .info that has already been spidered by MSN 39 times this month. While they have only sent 17 visitors to that particular site this month there is no doubt that they have indexed it.

If they are not indexing your website it has nothing to do with it being .info

I think since they are so cheap, they are associated with spammers and search engines take that into consideration. But I think with quality content, there shouldn't be a difference.

Yes, we would agree. They are often associated with those types of activities.

But as you pointed out, with quality content any site works.

We still believe that if you are going to build a "real" business you need to own the .com of your company name.

.com matter... You can easily get ranking if you have unique content and .com tld... I've experienced many times in .info and other tlds....

I agree also with that. But I hope you know that it's not the reason why they're cheap.

LTD pricings are determined by values and functionality. Meaning how valuable and popular they are to internet users and the purpose they serve.
