Hey guys in your opinion does it help in google rankings etc if you have a dedicated server over shared hosting or vps. Do they give more priority for sites on a dedicated server My opinion is yes they do would love to hear your thoughts
It makes no difference at all. If that truely were the case, you would need a dedicated Web server (which costs an arm and a leg each month in fees) just to get on the search engines. I have a search engine site for a specific table-top warfare miniatures game which is currently under construction (well, the front-end anyway, the engine actually works now). When it's launched, I'll have indexed sites that are related to the topic in question. Now, do you think I'd honestly discriminate against people because of who they host their sites with? No, and for good reason - only onne site would be in my index. Now ask the same question of the four major search engines - Ask, Google, MSN and Yahoo. Do you think the answer will be any different?
If your hosting goes down on and off, yes it does effect SEO. Unfortunately most of the cheap hosting gives little attention to the quality of service.
no, it does not really matter. but backlinks are better seen by google if they come from another ip address rather than your own server ip.
as in if you are asking whether getting your site on a dedicated server and IP.. and this in SEO terms..afaik doesnt affect..what does as the others said is the web hosts's uptime..
Search engines track many things, Now just having a dedicated server may not give you better ranking BUT it also could in the following situations, 1) Large website with a small hosting plan, If your web pages load extremely slow then not only will the user experience suffer but when the bots crawl they will have a tougher time. 2) Website speed = User experience Some of the less advanced seo's that create these "everything you need to know about seo in 2 posts" Have no clue about user behavior that is tracked by google, This is called bounce rate, If you have a slow loading site you "bounce rate" will be really high and then google does see this therefor giving you crappier results 3) Another thing is down time, server crashes and constant server reboots that many of these "$5.99 a year" hosting plans offer, Half the time they are overloading there server and doing what I mentioned above. So as a ending to my drawn out thread... Yes - by all means a dedicated server can be an advantage in certain applications. Someone telling you "NO" without even asking what is being hosted just has no idea about seo.................period... These are just a few factors
It can definitely harm ,many host who claims to be 100% up but are just 50% up, so if google sees your site 50% time down,it could devalue your site.

Yeah, what type of hosting google does not care. In fact in many cases how could they even tell depending on the servers configuration. The only thing they may see is multiple sites on the same IP in a shared environment. But if you care that much about that you can just get a dedicated IP. Obviously hosts reliability can affect things but you can run into the same problems with a dedicated server if you do not know how to manage the server.
no it make's no difference. Matt Cutts has covered this before. However where your site is hosted (country) can make a difference! http://www.pacdesco.net/techandcarsblog/2007/08/01/hosted-country-affects-where-you-rank/
hosting on harms you when it is terrible.......as long as they don't go offline or load extremely slow...you should be ok
