since the PR update I have been getting more traffic from Search Engines. Is this because I have more PR or is it a coincidence?

It's coincidence. You don't immediately see a traffic boost on the day of the PR update, PR is always changing but is hidden to the general public until the update. PR and traffic do follow a similar trend, higher PR goes with higher traffic but they don't depend on each other.

Since the pr update both Google and Yahoo have tweaked their algos. Maybe that is why you are seeing an increase in traffic?

PR is one of many 100's of factors for traffic. It is not an indicater of traffic in any way though.

It may true if your web sites PR gain between " PR7~PR10 "

I heard that pagerank toolbar is about 3 month update once. That the SERP will not be real if based on that. Actually Google has PR in their system.

I am not sure what goes first PR or something else, but I know for sure that higher PR means higher traffic. And that sounds correct, as PR indicated mainly the number of links to the site what brings lot of traffic too :)

Higher PR does not means higher traffic necessary.. PR purely suggests the quality of incoming links you have.

I wonder if now PR is more of an indicator of whether google thinks you buy or sell links more than anything else

Your site's PR has no effect on traffic.

I have a PR4 site that barely gets 50 visitors/day and doesn't rank for any terms.

I also have a PR2 site that gets 4,000 visitors/day and is #1 for it's keyword on google.

Talking about PR, SERP and traffic... I just like to recommend you guys to a new optimization technique - Thematic Search Optimization

It really works. This technique will fully optimize your site and outstretch your page rank and link popularity potential to get the best SERP possible. I am saying this because I subscribe to it and so far my SERP has shown great improvement.

Take a look at this company site that develops the technique -
