does high submission = crap?

    so the question:

does a directory with high submission rates generally mean they accept everything thats put before them? would this not result in their directory possibly getting negatives somewhere along the line? seems that eventaully google is gonna get pissed with directories that exist only to feed adsense, when that day happens or somethign like it, wont all those links youve placed on a high submission rate dir end up be negatives against you?

on a side note, i deny sites that are built for solely to make money from adsense. should i continue this practice?

It might mean they accept everything, but more likely it just means they don't have any hard rules on anchor text.

Links from directories shall never have negative effect on you. After all, if they will, I would put up a site that will compete yours, and I would submit you to all those directories, right? Another example, I got site listed in lots of other made-for-adsense content-scraping sites that just automatically produce a bunch of links related to specific keywords with some text. No negative effect either.

As for the directories dropped from index so far, these that I have looked upon myself were participating in link farming on the same domain they had the directory. Others might be one of those that accepted everything (speculation) - but there were not many of those, percentually a negligible number so far.

What's wrong with that? Lots of directories offer paid links, others don't have clean links. What's wrong with offering a link to your site for free, building and maintaining a web directory and just making a profit off of adsense and not charging you a dime?

I will list you on mine and charge you $5 if you'd feel better about it.

donttrust, i guess i should clarify my statement about denying adsense sites...

i dont allow sites that are seemingly made from a content scrapper/ or a keyword engine thingy.. some sites feel like the author simply used a adlib script and fill them full of keywords

"buy this -diet- here for only 99.95, you wil love your -diet- and get hours of great enjoyment from your -diet- becuase your -diet- is a wonderful -diet-..."

i really dont like those sites :( they hurt my feelings

and i dont charge for my directory, i dont belive i ever will, of course if i start getting major traffic and the need for paid submission i probably will.

    Yup. Continue it.

Generally what happens is, the scrapers choose a category then make 30-100 sites and then submit them all to that category and it ruins your directory. Only recently I've been getting probably 100+ submissions per day like this and I've rejected them all.

They are easy to spot, though I guess you can't always get them e.g. if someone changes their site after they submit to all the directories.

I'm not against people making sites purely for adsense, its there why not use it, however I will stop them from clogging my directories with garbage listings.
