Hi all, I was thinking of using a website builder like Weebly to build a site and noticed that their default option is to have the website hosted on their own server so the web address would end .weebly.com When it comes to SEO is this a disadvantage compared to just having your own domain without the .weebly? Thanks.
Yep it is no good to develop your site as a subdomain on weebly or any other provider. Domain names are cheap these days and so is web hosting - so my humble suggestion would be to buy a good domain name and host it yourself instead of wasting your efforts to increase web rank of weebly! Cheers
From an SEO perspective it would hold more value to have a domain name with just ur name, that as a subdomain.
"Does having your own domain with keywords improve SEO" If you are talking about having the keywords in your domain name, YES. Weebly is great to provide backlinks to your own domain though.
Ya, domain name is having a role in getting more traffic via search engines. I think, Weebly is good place to get a backlink to your site via subdomains....
Yes, domain name keywords really do help, although it does not mean everything of course. As a general rule of thumb, it would be best to keep some of your target keywords in the domain name. Using shared domains or subdomains can really hurt your SERPS.
Registering a domain name (www.yoursite.com) containing your niche keyword(s) is the best. With your site as a weebly child domain, e.g. yoursite.weebly.com, search engines will just ignore whatever business you have on it. Having your own domain gives you a good reputation. Moreover, search engines don't trust sites under free hosting.
