Does having the keyword repeated in the domain cause better SEO?

I'm just wondering, if having the keyword in the domain name twice - where one instance of it is plural, will be better or worse than having the keyword once in the domain, and if its better than not having it at all.

The keywords would be separated with one other word between them, and the first instance of the keyword would be singular, the second plural, and there would be other words in the domain besides just the 2 keywords and the one separating them.

I'm not concerned with how bad this domain name would be to type in, I just want to know if having a domain name with 2 keywords beside eachother like I've described is better for SEO ranking compared to the following 2 situations:

    1) Compared to a domain with the keyword only once (singular spelling of the keyword)

    2) Compared to a domain without the keyword at all.

    Thank you very much.

I think it would be the same as if you just had the keyword in your domain once. It shouldn't hurt you, but it shouldn't help you in any way. Personally I would only use the plural version. Then the search engines will give you credit for both singular and plural. It may be a little safer to avoid this scenario though as it may raise a slight red flag against you off the start. If your marketing is going to be clean then it should be fine.

I think it will look really "spammy" and sincerely I don't think it will benefit you at all as far as SEO, it might actually damage you. Theories say that really cheap domains (.info), domains full of dashes or over optimized domains (duplicated keywords) are commonly used by spammers, so in theory it might actually hurt you.

On the other side yahoo and bing seem to LOVE domains that include the keyword.

Also take into consideration that your domain will be a lot harder to "brand", I can't think of any serious authorative site linking to a keyword-something-keywords.com domain.

I would recommend to buy a domain with the keyword in it once, just to keep it safe in the case the theories and myths are true. If you know what you are doing even having a great "brandable" domain without the keywords in it can get you top positions without a problem.

SEO isn't about over optimization, if you want to over optimize you'll be better off with a short term black hat campaign.

Hmm... I've never come across someone wanting do this. Personally I'd avoid double-dipping on keywords when possible, unless you're doing the "Spy vs Spy" thing from "Mad TV".

I don't know about duplicated.. have it once, if you have it twice you might be looking for problems

I agree with this statement. 2 keywords is spammy, use the plural and get the benefit of both. Search engines can actually distinguish between plural and singular, combined words and seperate words.

Going for plural phrase makes sense.. as it contains the singular phrase as well.. n search engines can pick out the singular phrase during seo. Instead make a great domain name with the plural keyword and other keyword phrase.

using the kw once will do it just fine. repeating the keyword multiple times will make your URL un-brandable and non-professional

just do some searches in google and you will see that the singular version is bolded even in a plural word.
