Does having sub domains (affiliates) hurt my seo efforts?

I have been thinking of branding my site such that others may be able to resell my course (I am an online education provider).

Here's the rub...

I understand that having duplicate content on the web can hurt ones SEO efforts and by having affiliates all over the place, I would certainly have dup content...i think..

am I going about this the right way?

For seo, duplicate content if you have the first and most origial content on your site, it will mean you are more likely to rank first for it. All the affiliates if they are copying your content perhaps suggest to them to create their own twist or add some originality to their content to appeal to their own target areas. This will help them and yourself.

 

Copyright. Just place the links back. Rephrase titles. I believe that will help you

Thanks for the input everyone! I suppose that given the fact that all of the content will be being served from my site, it will only help. The links then will just be to the subdomains from other sites..
