    Hi all....

I have read in several SEO articles that having your keywords in the domain URL helps in your keywords appearing in top pages of Search Engines.......Is this strategy really works in SEO?

Absolutely it works. Doesn't mean, however, that you should kill yourself trying to fit keywords into a domain name if they just won't fit.

Having the keyword in the domain is a big help but not necessary. It is absolutely necessary for the keyword to be in the URL however.

I ALWAYS use keywords in URLS, as AmarLuis stated, a keyword domain helps, I've had a couple of less competative sites ranking just by the domain name alone.

I always try to have the keyword in the domain name. If the the niche hasn't a lot of competition you can rank highly just having the absolute keyword domain.

    Hi Jiten702,
Yes including keyword in URL is good if you want to improve ranking for that keyword. Hope this helps.

Yes, as everyone else has said, it does work. I try to get my main keyword in the domain name, and then use my secondary keywords in the urls for my other pages and posts.

I have .net and .org domains that have done just as well as my .coms. I haven't tried .biz yet but I am experimenting with .info, though I've been told they won't do as well. I've only just started working on it, though, so it will be awhile before I have any evidence one way or the other. Even when testing it's hard to tell because the keywords in the domain name have varying amounts of competition regardless of how consistent I am in promoting the various domains equally.

If I ever have spare time I'd love to get .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, and .us for the same exact match keyword. Then I'd set them up with similar spun content, posted at regular intervals, and do similar promoting with articles, social bookmarking, rss submissions, etc. It would be fascinating to see the results.

Oh well. That will have to wait until that mythical day when I have "spare time". LOL.

You should try to get your main keyword in the domain name if you can't get the exact match for the domain name (exact match for the domain name in .com, .net and .org is ideal) and your pages should definitely have the main keywords you are trying to rank for in it.

I know, original answer (a little sarcasm there) but it really is true.

    Good Luck

Having the keywords in your domain name will maximize your SEO effort. However, you still need to focus your marketing time on creating backlinks for the right keyword phrase. The domain will only give you faster success when it comes to your SERPS.
