Does having an "add on" domain have a negative impact on rankings?

Hi guys. I already have a hosting account set up for one of my current sites. I already have another domain and I'm in the process of building site #2. I will be using mainly seo tactics to promote this site.

My question is does Google give less value for add on domains compared to a regular domain with it's own root folder? I'm debating if I should have site #2 under my same account as an add on domain, or if I should just get a reseller account for multiple domains. This way each domain would have it's own root folder.

Because when I create the addon domain, it shows as a subdirectory in my root folder. Wouldn't this make Google look at this add on domain more like a sub domain?

Just want to know your opinions on which route would be best from an SEO standpoint.

Anyone's thoughts or experiences on this would be much appreciated. Thanks,

    Dan

It's not a subdomain though. Some hosts have this set up as I've seen helping people install scripts on there hosts. If it has it's own domain and is a different site then google will know it's a different site.
Lots of people have hundreds of domains set up very similar. It's just how it works so don't worry about it and get those sites rolling!

I use that kind of setup and don't believe it causes any problems at all.

When (if) one of these sites gets bigger / more traffic I tend to move it off to its own account but that's more for admin reasons than SEO reasons.

I wouldn't do too much interlinking between sites held like that though, because i guess it can be identified very easily.
