If a site URL is mentioned on a page, but the URL is not in an anchor tag, does that help at all? For example this text will be indexed by Google: www.YourWebSite.com But it's not part of an actual link. Does it do any good for SEO at all?
Hi Tauren, thanks for your reply. Does that mean that it could theoretically increase your search ranking in Google?
The text will get indexed. But it's not a link, has no anchor text and the spider will not follow it.
it will not be counted as a link but it may also help. If you try to search in google then when the page is indexed the link will be indexed as in text. So it may also help you but not as an anchored text helps. But it will be better than an nofollow tagged link ..........lol.
It will pass some pagerank and increase your site's overall worth, but you won't get the benefit of specific keywords pointing to your site. A text link is much better because it increases your ranking for the specific text in the link.
Not as far as seo goes. It will sometimes show up in search results on the site with the text but a person would actually have to copy and paste the text into their address bar and visit it.
