does H1 in header need to be a link?

    Can the h1 tag for the header, for seo purposes.....does it need to be a link or can it just be text?

    It should be text, why would a heading (H1) be a link? Generally headings are at the start of content, not used for navigation.

    I agree with Hyena. H1 should be a text. These are used to define heading of content.

    It just needs to be a simple text, but I am wondering if making it a link would give more PR juice to the linked page. Did anyone try?
