i'm looking to create and development a website based around facebook. i can't really seem to find any domains worth having that'll support me when it comes to SEO, so i was wondering if any of you marketing veterans knows anything about google's search recognizing acronyms. for a specific example, would it be a wise idea to instead of using "facebook" in the domain name, use "fb" instead? thanks in advanced!
Why don't you test it out... search for fb and see what ranks first. Also search for fb keyword, e.g. fb advertising, fb likes, etc. Try also searching for G+. So from these tests you should see that Google does understand them, or at least it's doing best-guess at what it could mean (you also need to consider that some acronyms have other meanings, too). In this case, fb would be synonymous with Facebook.
Yes, use it. Google takes LSI into account. But it doesn't mean that you will get a good rank right from day one. Whatever is your domain name, you have to provide useful content, people should link to your site and only then your site can get into the top page, of course, depending upon the keywords.
Not really in terms of seo, but it would be better to use fb instead of facebook due to copyright issues.
Just don't simply spam threads please give out valuable and factual information that will help the OP...
