Does Google use the content-language meta tag?

    Does Google use

    <meta http-equiv="content-language" content="en">

    I noticed that even though all my sites are in English, when I use search preferences to search only English results, I get just a few hundred results, but get around 57,200 results when I don't have the English restriction, even though the whole site is English, as if Google thinks most of the site is not in English.

    Changing my browsers search Preferences to not be just English fixed the site:domain.com screw-up that I've had for a few months now and I'm wondering if adding that meta tag will give correct site: results if it'll tell Google the page is in English.

    Actually megs tags are not so important this days,but it may consider when we do local searches, like by country or by lang ,when u specify google to search using that tag then results may diff.But your results show very huge difference, i,am not sure why it is so.
