    Hi, All you guys,,,

I have (again) some questions about google updating habits,,,,,

I'm not sure if this topic was discussed before,,,but I'm sure I can't find one,,or I'm stupid,,, Because i have some trouble with english, sometimes I can not think of any right word or the topic,,,and that makes me to get unrelavent search result in google all the time....

    Anyway,,,

My question is google update indexed page as soon as they crawal the site?? or like PR they update them all at specific one day??

How about IBL(same condition as above)???

    Thanks in advance,,,,
Happy new year and DRIVE SAFE

Its all progressive indexing, pages and links are added ALL the time, there is some lag between crawling and indexing, normally this is just a couple of days - which is an awesome technique.

I think PR and IBL are updated internally by Google continually but they only update our view of them at irregular intervals. So I'd hope SERPs would show any changes quicker than things like the toolbar or an IBL search

I just don't know if I agree with this. Here's my example...

I recently created a new site, on which every page links back to my primary website. Both sites are crawled on a daily basis now, and the new site is showing 176 pages in the Google index. But, Google is NOT showing (nor counting) the new links into my main site as of yet.

    Now for the theory part...

This site took about 2 weeks to come out of the sandbox from the first day it was indexed, with no inbound links at all. I assume that sometime in the near future Google will start counting these "new" links coming in from this new site, and I'm tracking daily to determine the timeline. Once this is done, I also have another new site I will be launching, to see if the timeline is similar. I am hoping I can use this to determine the actual update "pattern" if there is any.

How do you know this? Are you depending on the results from the "link:" search?

I believe, based on the evidence from the McDar experiment and other experience, that they do in fact "count" them very quickly after crawling the page, but not only are they not updating PR on the toolbar, but in addition the links reported by the "link:" search have been almost totally meaningless for months now. Google never did report all the links to a page, but they did appear to have some rules -- only report links from PR4 pages or higher -- however, nobody that I have read has been able to figure out the basis of their present reporting.

I actually wrote my own app that bases its "best guess" on multiple queries. I know that the "link:" searches only return a subset of the actual counted results, so this is only one part of my tests. There are many small tricks I can play with in Google to get it to return a larger set of results, as well as using new keyword anchor tags for this test. As I said, I will know more once the links actually show up for me, and affect my rankings across all of my tests. That will give me a good baseline to compare when I do the next site launch, which will then either validate my findings, or completely invalidate them. =)

There is a theory that when google finds a link, it does not work with 'full strenght' from the beginning, but is getting more and more influence with time and the link: tool shows only links which are 'working with their full power' already. I'm not sure if thats true, but it might be... i wasn't doing any big research on it.

The problem with that theory, as I see it, is how do you explain when an update comes along and the number of backlinks reported drops.

Well.. there might be dozens of factors that google may take into consideration while deciding if link should work with full strenght or not. One of such situation which comes to my mind is that you link back to the site which you had backlink from and made your backlink reciprocal. Or maybe the site which you have backlink from started linking to every related and unrelated site and because of this google reduced weight of this link.
