Does google treat most of directories as link farm?

99,90% of Directories are nothing more than scraper link farms.

 

Because there is a going need for directories as there are many websites coming up daily

Also Google considers a link from directory as a back link and it does not give any weightage to ot

 

I am serious to on my directories:

1, customize the skin, 2. get high PR, 3 review submission carefully

But It really takes time and money.

That's why free directory usually can not survive in the long run.

 

i had mine free for a year...well..i have a 3 months backlog...but it's still free

 

dir back links are counted by google....
but depends on dir...
some really work as link farm
but not all dir
its good to get 1 way link from dir.

Maybe google thinks directory sites are far more enough, so they don't like any new directories anymore.

Interesting comment by Reapr I found that I had to pull up again.

If "directories" is considered a link building strategy and most of them are considered very useless (general ones only) for the web surfer...what happens? You know, what happens when there are constantly new directories poopping up each day that G decides to put an end to it.

I've only recently begun my website and my little career as a webmaster. How long have directories been driving the page rank on Google? More than a year?

 

There was a web site with no links in a dead corner: no PR or any single backlink.When I included their URL in my dir (4PR) few days before the last PR update - they got 2PR. The problem is they (static guarding company)don't have a clue what's PR, SERP, etc.

I can imagine Google to be too clever to differentiate between bogus and quality dirs.

 

If you think so --then why are you having your own directory?

 

There will be always SOB's in life. I refer to myself as a Full Blooded SOB that works and accomplishes things and NOT JUST by MOUTH.

 

I think members of dp who are active in directories section have high quality directories like
Popotalk, An0n, Malcom, CReed, Me ..etc

What I believe is --you must do what you preach.

I would not have had a directory if I thought they are link farms. I would have continually opposed having links/getting listed on directories --if I thought they are link farms.

It just does not go into my little brain--how someone thinks Directories a link firms and still have one of them

 

Directory submissions will help you to improve your PR, I think it will not improve your Traffic Directly.

 

I think the majority of directoriesd are now being seen as a better form of link farms. What I have been trying to do to combat this is add quality sites on my own to add to my authority status.

 

directory backlinks are no longer counted in google.
i had links from many directories but google does not show them as my backlink.
few directories are exceptions.
