I am moving a site from http to https and wanted to know if google thought this was a different site?

Do I need to let Google know in webmaster tools that I am moving from http to https?

    thanks for the help!

as long as your redirects are setup corrrectly there wont be a issue.

shouldnt you only have https on the pages that matter though? like contact forms etc

    Hello.

You should definitely implement 301 redirects from the versions "http://" to "https://". Your site will stay available, and your users won't notice a thing, but Google will see a definite signal that you're moving your site to the secure version and update its indexes.

It may take some time for Google to update its indexes, but the site will remain working just fine.
