does google still read these links that are in google index but not exist on web?

HI

I have changed some of my products categories. Now the Prob is : my old products " links" are in google index though i have removed these all from sitmep.xml file and are not exist in the web.

My clients has still doubt that google will read these old links that he show in their index. He says to disallow these links through robot.txt.

IS This a good idea OR not ?
