Does Google search read Javascript yet?

Hi there, I use javascript to place links throughout the site and then it is easier for me to update in one go

I was wondering whether Google search is able to read JS yet, please?

The site is still HTML and I am not sure whether I am able to attach SSI (server side includes) effectively

unless someone can tell me differently?

    Thanks

    TB

google spider, or any spider used by searach engines cannot run or execute java yet. If it could imagine the fun they would have clicking on each others ads :)

If it could read java I wonder if then advertisiments by Google would count as backlinks to that site :p

Java is not the same thing as Javascript, just so you know.

There is some speculation that they can interpret certain snippets of script, but I they don't count those as backlinks... I think it's more used in detecting hidden redirects, etc.

If you are running PHP, you then in theory you can set your HTML files to parse as PHP, and use include files for the links that will change.

I didn't mean that your site had to be written in php, I meant that your server had to be able to run php. Do you know if it can?

Yep, but kinda busy atm (although I keep getting distracted posting). Ask over at SEOR on how to do it, and if someone else doesn't answer in a bit I will try and give a quick rundown.
