Does google punish for parked domains?

    Hi!

I have a digital camera site (PR4). The domain name of the best digital camera site ever (PR8) has an alternative which is free. For example:
    The original is: www.bestcamerasiteever.com
    Alternative: www.bestcamerasite-ever.com
My plan is to register this alternative domain name and park it to point to my existing website.
    My question is:
Does google punish for this kind of parked domains?

    Thanks!

Your question doesn't make sense. You are going to park the alternative to point to your existing website? Parking is something where you point your nameservers/forward domain to a domain parking company and they place advertisements and such on your site (like the company in my sig--ParkingPanel).

What you want to do is a 301 redirect. I don't think you have anything to worry about with a 301 redirect. Hopefully some SEO guys/gals can come in and verify my answer.

That is not parking, that is redirecting.
Also, doing that makes sense only if the alternative domain www(dot)bestcamerasite-ever(dot)com has traffic. If nobody visits it and you have no backlinks for it - this parking will do help you in any way.

But to answer to your question: no, google will not punish you for that.
