Hi guys, I am new here and hope I'm following the rules, but if not I apologize in advance. Let me start off by saying I am primarily a fitness trainer, not an SEO guy so these questions may seem overly rudimentary—again I apologize in advance if that's the case. Anyway, I realize that "all pages can be considered entry pages", but was wondering if search engines in general, and Google specifically, prefer us as website developers to utilize sub-pages or blog post type pages as the keyword-optimized entry points to our site from organic results. When I say "prefer" I guess I am asking what makes the most sense from an organizational/structural as well as from a visitor usability point of view? In the past I simply made sub-pages for every iteration of the keywords I wanted to rank for, and then worked on optimizing each page for its relevant keywords, but with the recent updates of the Google engine it appears that Google is moving away from favoring sites that game the system towards sites that focus on providing high quality information in the most natural, helpful way possible to site visitors. For instance if someone was to type in "service 'x' city-name" into Google, would pages or blog posts optimized for that keyword phrase be favored by: - Google, both in terms of ranking and in terms of longevity and future-proofing from future updates - The visitors themselves - The organized, intelligent website owner My guess before I hear from any of you experts is that Google prefers to provide links to pages that offer information on that keyword phrase, rather than a sales page... so perhaps a blog post page on the subject (provided that the content on the blog post is high quality) would be preferred to a sub-page that provides a sales letter or even the same information as the blog post would contain? I'd imagine that it would make more sense to a visitor as well, as most folks searching for a phrase like that might want to learn more about something instead of buy right away... but again, I'm no expert. Thanks a lot for your time and I look forward to learning from you guys on the subject!
Google gives importance for both pages main page ans sub pages, it is totally dependent on the effort of optimization.
That method can not be succesful. If you have many services in the same city or same service in dfferent cities, you must buy seperate domains for each service/city. Creating internal pages for extra service/city on a single domain will not work. I hope this is what you want to know.
What you think might be making Google work for you today, could be flipped to the wind in a month. Be careful, maybe focus on being a more natural type of webmaster instead of trying to force feed Google what you think will make it do tricks for you. I've long since given up on Google --- when I first joined DP..... years ago. I thought link exchanges were cool, I had no idea I was maniuplating Google. I just thought I was going to get some visitors from the other guy's site.... HA - *bows out gracefully*
