Does Google prefer meaningful page name?

    Hi,

Is it better to have a page like:
    http://www.example.com/article/1001/some_meaningful_title.html

    or no page:
    http://www.example.com/article/1001/

    or it does not matter?

The reason I ask is because I don't really use the page name, but rather the .htaccess to get the page to display, (form the URL).

But I could add the page/article title, (properly formated of course), if that helps.

What do you think? Should I have a page even if it does not really matter to my scripts.

What about the other search engines? Do they care?

My experience is that Google definitely prefers keywords in the name, for those keywords.

Directory name Vs page name. Which of the following is better?

    1. www [dot] domainname [dot] com/productA.htm

    2. www [dot] domainname [dot] com/productA
    - where there is an "index.htm" in productA directory.
    - we don't use index.htm in internal URL link

    Thanks all.

I added the title to the page, (with an html extension).
    See http://www.journalhome.com/.

I am not sure how long this will take to make a noticeable difference.
