I've been thinking of joining http://www.text-link-ads.com/ to sell link ads from my blogs. But I am a little bit wary participating in any link selling program. While selling links might not get a site banned, it might prevent it from passing along reputation. The only way to avoid this problem is to use the rel=â€nofollow†attribute but as far as I know Text Link Ads do not include the nofollow tag in their links. Matt Cutts writes about this http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/text-links-and-pagerank/ Should I be worry about this or this doesn't apply anymore today. What do you guys think?
My take is if link-buying business persist, google is gonna penalize it sooner or later. Whatever threaten the policy of "relevant content" would eventually be whacked. Hence this wouldn't work out in the long term.
If you only sell a few on-topic links then there is no problem. Try selling links in this forum first. Text link ads will take a cut of the fees and you have less control I expect.
i would not recommend selling links to totally unrelated sites not related to your category. However selling few related category links wont hurt. Google does penalty you for having unrelated links on your site. Regards, Admans.
I have had good sucess with Text link ads just make sure you set the checkbox to "approval system B" that way you choose what links go on your site and only accept relevant links.
