Im currently using a few addon domains with my hosting account. Im quite worried that the sites wont gain any pr because its hosted as a addon domain and therefore wont pass PR. Is this true?
My understanding is that they are completely seperate from the main domain for SE purposes. They stand alone. The only thing they share with the main domain is the IP number and an IP number can have hundreds of sites.
Go for it, i've got upwards of 50 addon domains on one of my server accounts and all have their own PR.
When you have more than one domain hosted in a single account. And when a visitor types in domain2 they go to that site. It is not the same as a subdomain.
Richard, the add-on domain is technically a sub-domain but the host that offers add-on domains, under the one hosting account, will create an automatic redirect (or URL rewrite) so that the URL for the add-on sits on its own unique domain. They are functionally separate sites on separate domains.
Totally separate and treated like a totally separate domain. It is no different than being on a shared hosting account with hundreds of other sites. Google will count each link towards PR. Just be careful not to create duplicate sites for this purpose because they could all end up banned from the SERPs. I seen one guy who had 15 sites all with the same articles and niche and wondered why he was banned from Google. Make sure each domain and site is unique and does not copy the content from the other sites.
Does it mean that u don't have to buy a dedicated IP for each addon domain to make it a separate site?
