Does Google Not Allow Blog Contests? Does PR drop if you do one?

Does Google give PR penalties if you hold a blog contest?

I would really love lots and lots and lots of answers, I hope
I can find the answer to this really pressing question.

I am not aware that Google objects to this type of content. Perhaps someone can provide the reqired information.

What type of Blog contests do you have in mind ???

 

A simple blog contest offering links and ad spots as prizes, I am just trying to find out why my PR dropped

Contests are no reason for a site's PageRank to drop. PR drops are random, stop whinging about it. Jeez

 

if you offer links and ad spots your PR can drop. If you have a lot of un-related links in blogroll, they can think that you are selling links, and they think that if you will have a lower PR it will be harder for you to sell links, because the webmaster look first at PR when buying links.

 

hmm I have just put up no follow on almost all of my blogroll links except genuine link exchanges, so I hope their amazingly smart algorithms can detect it

 

Yes, I have seen 2 people penalized from doing contest. So its no myth.

if you make it obvious you are link whoring (as in everyone in this competition MUST link back) them there's a good chance of Google hurting you. Of course it could be coincidence of just a normal PR drop

 

Hmmm I think it might be just a normal PR drop, I will just have to get more pages indexed in the big G
