I couldn't think how to phrase the question. Does Google look at dates of links? - What I mean is, are 'old' links as valuable as 'new' links? Having built up several thousand links to my guitar store over the past 6 months, can I rest on my laurels? i.e. will those links be as powerful in SERPS terms in a year's time as they are now, or does Google downgrade their value over time. Will a thousand 3-year-old links give the same SERPS as a thousand 3-month-old links? I guess I'm asking about 'currency' - do links have to be current to be most valuable? I've never seen this mentioned, but have a gut feeling that the fact that someone linked to your site 3 years ago would not be regarded as highly as someone linking to your site last week. Any thoughts??
Google's Webmaster blog doesn't say so. Google is concerned on links from high-quality sites. Avoid links from bad sites.
I can't quote stuff, but I've heard a lot of high-profile webmasters talking about old links being better.
Hiya guys....links from relevant authority sites are what's needed, age of a website plays a factor in its PageRank though, so age of website where linik is from definitely will have some bearing.
I've heard that older links are move valuable, of course the sites that you are getting the links from should be somewhat related to the theme of your site.
It is generally accepted that "older links" are more valuable than new links, assuming that all other factors are the same. In fact, I believe that G gives almost no credit at all to new links until they are at least 3 months old. In G's patent document (2005 I believe) it discussed reducing the value of links once they reach a certain age with the logic that the link has become old and stale. No mention was made of how old the link would have to be before it began to lose value. And of course, no one knows whether the technique is actually in use. Just because you patent something doesn't mean you are must use it. /*tom*/
Relevant links are more important and I do believe age of links is important also, takes at least a few months for any links to make a difference or start to take effect and on new sites I think this is 6 months +.
Yes of course, google sees the age of the link too, because that is a factor to find link sales, since links are sold generally for a limited period of time due to PR changes, g can catch up with such practices by looking at the link age
I read some SEO articles, they say old links are more valuable than new links. But for sure, links from high quality sites and related to your site are alway better.
Yes old links are better than new links (and as time passes they might get high PR too) but once you get lots of links you can not staty still because your competitors are also working on building more and more links so you will also have to build new links to be in competition for ranking race. --Thanks...
