I noticed something strange. A couple of months back already but I thought it would change but it does not.

For a certain search prhase one of my pages shows up with a bold text in the description that is nowhere to be found on my page anymore. It was there but I changed it months ago.

My site still ranks on the first page for that phrase. Does google really want me on the first page or what? or do they keep a database with changes from that page? somehow ...

That page has a cache date of 2 days ago and normally gets crawled every day and cached every 2 or 3 days. I guess it must have been updated 20 or 30 times now.

The bold text in a Google description means the word was used in your search. Google is probably still using the old page but if they aren't than they still find it relevant probably from backlinks to that page.

No not cookies but maybe google preferences could be the reason.

    nope.

They replaced my normal description with a phrase on my webpage.
Only the phrase is not there. I removed it a few months ago.
The whole word that is bold does not appear on the page.

I understand about backlinks because I do have a few anchor text from other pages using this text.

    this is the search:

    http://216.239.37.104/search?hl=en&lr=&q=bamboo+fly+fishing+rods&btnG=Search

my page is keone at spot 7 I think

look at the description and compare it with the cached text and or the real content.

they show "quadrate bamboo fly fishing rods"

why would they show the word quadrate and then the search phrase as it nowhere appears in that context and the word quadrate was not even used in the search phrase.

    I still think it's strange/ funny

They highlight terms in bold that were in your search. If your search is 'blue widgets' and that isn't in the description in your meta tags but in your pages content, they will show the content around 'blue widgets' and bold 'blue widgets'. If you click on the cached link you can see what version of the website google has in there cache and that is what they will be searching.

You should use google sitemaps to let them know of the update so they will respider your site.

Maybe someone linked to you using that keyword, and Google considers it as part of your topic, like the Google Bomb.

How do you manager to get your site indexed so frequently nearly daily?

I was a bit optimistic. when I said every 2 or 3 days
It is approximately once every 5 to 7 days
It used to be every 2 to 3 days but that was when I worked a lot on my site.

which means they do keep texts stored and use it as soon as a relevant search phrase occurs?
