I have a blog built on wordpress: http://www.consultingcase101.com
Should I set a static landing page for the homepage?
    or
Should I just let the latest posts appear on the homepage like a normal blog?
this way, the homepage changes every time I update the blog, is it good for search engine
    to index my site?
    http://www.consultingcase101.com/blog/

Which way is better for Google to index my site, static landing page or dynamic homepage?

    Hi,

In my own experiences, there would be no difference between dynamic and static pages in search engine's eyes these days though static pages would usually be more user friendly and easy to include keywords according to your keyword strategies.

    all the best,

I would go with dynamic homepage but the content of the site should be good and also provide some useful information along with some good links to ads.

If it is a blog, then leave it as a 'normal' blog with posts on the home page. If you stray from that, it would seem 'not-normal' which could then send a wrong signal. If the blog is new, the wrong signal could do harm.

I think it all depends upon your marketing.
If you are marketing the blog, then I say have a static home page
If you are marketing the blog posts, than have a dynamic page.
Meaning, do you want people to come to your blog, or a certian post?

If you want to have a strategy to development for certain key words should opt for a static page. Instead if you want to have visitors from many words, put them on every item, the page is dynamic solution. That's my opinion:)

I would also suggest dynamic homepage in your case.. Have some fixed seo friendly (keyword rich) content on home page and let the latest posts appear on the homepage.. google loves new and unique content and I think its better to link them on home page too. It will also help your internal pages to get indexed fast.

I posted a similar question on the DP search engine optimization board,
but people there all voted for static landing page,
    now i'm getting all confused.
I guess time will tell which one is better for my blog:

Both dynamic and static page would not be any problem with Googlebots for now. They can index everything but the one thing you should avoid is dynamic URL. There are ways easy to rewrite the URL to be search engine friendly (with keyword rich of course).

It never matters how the page is generated, only that the page contains HTML.

I'd have to agree also, static is usually better. But something like a static blog page with a short spot that has the 6 most recent articles would probably get favored over a site that never updates.
