Does Google have a hidden Agenda???

Google recently launched Google suggest feature across all its data centers. Since the suggestion are provided upfront to a searcher, Google could very well use it to drive traffic to keywords with high bid prices.

Well it would seem that way, although people generally dont do long tail keyword searches... Only a minority.

This is exactly what they are getting at - they are providing search suggestions for the most common things people search for.

Yes the suggestion would be based on most common searches made and it also gives the number of results right next to it, so people would know about the quantity of results the search would produce. What about targeting keywords that appear in Google suggest??? will it bring more traffic???

Isn't google suggest 'OLD' news. It was in beta for close to 2 years and was publicly available. They are just making people search better (or spell better) :)

Are kidding. Google does have an agenda. What other company in the world do you know has dirt on all of us? Think about gmail, google docs. Even your house isn't safe (google earth)!

Hi Sultan, Thank you for your comment. If you see that out of those 4 posts too were posted in error, I did go into that particular post and left a comment on it saying that it has been posted in error and posted the URL of the right thread. So that should explain my hidden agenda.

Google Suggest spent a couple of years in Google labs, and though the beta version was available to public, it still was in beta phase. It has been generally perceived that things that stay too long in testing phase attract more public eye than anything else. People wait and wait and when it finally comes out, everything is abuzz with people talking about, from different perspectives. Same happened with Google Suggest. And yes it would definitely help people search better and avoid trivial mistakes like spelling errors. All in all I would put it as a happy situation.

thanks for explaining that. for your future reference, you can delete a post for a while. if the time expires, you can report the thread and tell a mod to delete so that you are on the safe side

Everything Google ever does stays in a 'Beta' stage for a very, very long time... I'm actually surprised to see this thread - it's been old news for me for such a long time! Have I ever used it when searching? Once, maybe twice. I think I know what I want to find more than an algorithm does!

Thanks for your comment James. Same goes for me as I know what I am looking for and therefore type in exactly what I am looking for but we cannot ignore the fact that there are many who are unsure of what they are looking. So for them it is a useful feature and also they would tend to select one of the options presented to them. That is what I believe.
