As long you have good backlinks, the content is regularly updated, you'll do fine. Even if you're using .com, without backlinking and content, it won't rank at the top.
google have nothing against .info but I guess many people go 'what' when they see .info domain. I for one try to avoid any sites that have .info domain.
My input is that they are just cheap, and a ton of .info's are used for link networks, and splogs. I personally stay away from them... I mean what if you want to change the domain to an ecommerce store, or somthing similar in the near future, I dont think youd want a .info
The explanation is in the name. .info is what is information. If you trying to put something that has value up you'd put .com or .net .org
.coms has the most priority in googles eye and then coms .net and .org. I rarely see a .info or a .biz ranks for a competitive keyword.
That's what I used to think, until I realized Google probably thought I hated my site. I did a better job at SEO and my thoughts changed.
I don't think so, I've seen way too many .info rank on page one to say that Google would treat it any differently than a .com.
lol !!!!! Ofcourse you are right The only thing google loves to check is content and individual page link popularity
