ATTENTION SEO EXPERTS :: Do you think that google rewards / favors sites that are on their own IP, as opposed to sites hosted on subdomains, or alternate domains to the same IP? For instance, both of these sites are on the same IP (216.70.85.21) :: bobfirestone.net click-here-now.info ... but click-here-now.info is the "root domain," resolving to 216.70.85.21 ... bobfirestone.net is an "alternate domain" on the same IP. Will I rank higher in google SERPs if I host the site I am trying to promote on a root domain as opposed to an alternate domain on the same IP? What about subdomains vs. directories? ... which is better?
click-here-now.info did nothing for me! IF it was pointing at the other then you need to use a permanent redirect or otherwise do not point it and put up its own unique material. I don't think you understand the principle of the shared hosting. Normally they will have addresses like http://xx.xx.xx.xx/~bobfires/ http://xx.xx.xx.xx/~clickher/ which the DNS points at and each are separate albeit on the same host. It has been thought that different ISPs is better than all on the same but I have not seen much evidence recently of this. The root of each of these is the public_html of the domain. Inside this root you may have directories and subdomains. The subdomain is pointed to by the subdomain name eg forums.bobfirestone.net A directory is part of the domain. As far as which is better it depends on whether you think the Search Engines are reading the first word of the domain and ranking it higher than the reading of the directory. eg does forums.bobfirestone.net do better than www.bobfirestone.net/forums/ or bobfirestone.net/forums/
