Hey, Say I find an article on google for the term "Diet" and the article has 50 backlinks and 100,000 views. And I wanted to take over its spot, could I just get the same number of backlinks and google will favor my article as it is newer? Or will google favor the other article because it is older?
This should've been in SEO section, but I will explain it to you. Google gives stable rankings to older websites. So if you write a fresh article and get some backlinks to it, it's very likely that you will get bumped to like 50th page, and then slowly come back, if you keep building links. Also articles from directories tend to always go up and down in rankings, especially for competitive terms.
Hi bl4ckmaN, your Niche Junky is something like cb, but more statistics on the page. Is it yours or you just promote it?
Backlinks are not the only thing that Google use to rank pages. There are well over 200 signals in the Google ranking algorithm and backlinks is just one of them. Maybe the most important, but if you are doing all other 199 wrong, and get a bunch of backlinks, you will still not rank well. SEO should not only be on backlinks!! Just because a website has 20 links and ranks 2ndst doesn't mean if you get 21 links you will rank 1st. Yes Google favors new content to older content. Especially on blogs.
