Does Google Dislike "Single Page" Websites?

Discussion in 'Google' started by gregdavidson, Jan 30, 2009.

I recently submitted two websites to Google, one had multiple pages and the other was just a single page. After a couple of days, my website with multiple pages came up in the results, but my single page website is still pending. Does Google dislike websites that only have one page? Or is this just a random thing?

Do not ever submit your site to google. It is waste of time.

Also .. indexing is random, but sites have more pages have more power. So they do better.

What do you mean it's a waste of time? I've been accepted on Google with submission several times. I know Google can pick up your website through your backlinks but it's not guaranteed.

I beg to disagree. Submitting your new website to the world's largest SE would actually make wonder to your site's PR.

I haven't ever submitted any of my sites to Google and they all get indexed usually within 2 days by placing a link to it from a site that is being indexed.

Generally speaking, when a website has more pages, the webmaster can add more keywords throughout the site by including them on all the pages and this can help with the overall SE rankings.

It must be a random situation .
Typically a site means it has more than 100+ pages .

you can rank a single page for even competitive keywords - clue = backlinks.

and a site with many pages of disparate content (as long as it's unique) can rank for many long tail keyphrases.

single page sites can also be "reckognized" as flash if thats the scenario your in - if your entire site is built on one page, but the flash has lots of content, google will NOT doc you - for example, http://www.thefwa.com/ is only one page and its PR7 with LOTS AND LOTS of traffic ;)

Doesn't matter about single page, multiple pages.

It is based on content, Content is king.

You can make good content.

Google loves contents and the problem with a single page site is that it is less likely to have good contents. But you can have your site indexed by google by getting backlinks from high traffic sites. Your site may even come up in the SERP if you have optimized it for a certain keyword with good contents. Peace :)

Sites with a few pages of unique content tend to do better than a one-pager. However, if it is an older domain it may do just fine with one page.

I have a website that did quite well for 6 months as a single page, gained PR3 and it ranked well for my targeted keywords (it is a search site using ajax so as far as google is concerned its a 1 page site).

Since then i added a few more pages, like 4, it continues to do well.

People are saying that submitting to google is a waste of time ... this is true, submitting to google is a waste of time. Google will consider your website absolute trash if you have zero backlinks, so you might as well let google find you through backlinks. Google finding your website through backlinks is guaranteed, especially if you have many.

Yes, single page websites are not very interesting for Google.

I think if the page has a lot of content seen by Google and has a lot of quality backlinks, it can still do well regardless of how many pages it has.

Google like sites that have many pages of content. A site with just one page will not get good rankings at all.
