Does google delete latest cached version and shows old cache?

One of my sites has been falling in SERPs. I immediately did a few enhancement that only Google would love. It worked when Google cached on 7th May and my site jumped a few places and I was happy that Google cached the new site (I had also submitted the updated sitemap) but now I don't see the new version in Google Cache. I see May 4th cache and the site keeps falling gradually.

I have NEVER sold a link and have NEVER bought a link. What could it be? Does this happen often? Have you experienced it before? What are your two cents?

Also, is there any way to get your site cached quickly?

    Thanks,
    z

Just wait a little while. There have been changes to your site, Google is just waiting for it to get "stable." Give it a week or two.

It's a cache rollback of sorts, it does happen fairly often but most people don't realize because they don't check the cache dates frequently.

    There's 2 possible causes:

    1) When checking your cache you are now hitting a DC that isn't fully synced with the latest snapshot. If you tried using Google IP's instead of the domain name you will probably find the new version.

    2) They reverted the DC with an older version due to problems with the server or data.

I wouldn't worry to much, you should see the new version again in around 48 hours. In the mean time get a few more links to it.

So there is a good chance that my site will jump up once all Google data centers have cached the latest version of the site? I mean I know what I am doing. I just replaced html with css code and delete each and every single outbound link PLUS, also added fresh content and added RSS feeds too.

1 - Once all DCs have cached the new version, should I expect to see any result?
2 - I should stop worrying about this old cache thing right?

    Thanks a lot you guys!!!

Do not worry about this. Main problem for google - to many pages in his memory, sometimes some error are occures. In case of error google usually roll back for prevoius cache. This is in fact much better rather than some SE just simply loose all chaches for whole site for few weeks.

Links from frequently crawled or high PR pages.

But do this for your rankings, the cache is temporary and i guarantee it will update again soon.
