Does anyone know if Google checks your whois?

Maybe for linking two sites that you own? Maybe for checking to see what other kinds of sites you own?

I am sure they may use a little of that information in certain cases, but I doubt it makes much of a big deal in terms of general rankings. But they may check whois versus some sort of blacklist they have to keep certain specific people out of the search engine, maybe :)

Cause one domain could be used by many people

Google have advanced system which can track a lot of info about websites, and even it's whois.

Google is a registrar that doesn't use it to sell domains. It does give them the ability to check whois - and if you read their patent, it specifically states they can use the information as signals to flag sites with common ownership.

I think Google checks IP of hosting, not domain.

Do you think Google has time to check the whois?:p
They only check the Host's IP.

If they suspect a site is whet they consider to be unfair tactics (loads of sites put up to inflate site rank) then yes.

Oh, i made an error. You are right Google checks for hosting IP to find out sites which are hosted on same IP and linking to each other.

I think google check the whois data to provide users detail information about a domain name.

If there is suspision, they will dig deep into your site with different diagnostic tools, and i guarantee you they will find any incriminating evidence or tos violations.I say this all the time you might be able to fool google for a bit but google has billions of dollars that will catch on.

Well, Lets say, Maybe they check your IP and stuff automatically just like a crawling procedure or something not to check what sites you have and what are you doing in your life... etc.

    Google not the FBI!

I beleive they keep a track on such information, but it's not necessary an important factor and the truth is:
NO body knows any thing for sure unless your working for them and properly in the internal ranking team ;)
