Does google care WHERE on a site a link is?

would it make any difference if my link was in the header, footer, or main body of the site?

 

No it does not care but what link are you talking about?

 

Well I am linking to one of my sites on my other site and it is currently in the footer. I was just curious if it would count for more if I put it in a differet location. I did not think so, but was not 100% sure.

No google is not consider that where is your link on the page..!!

 

Google does view on web page in a source code perspective. Even Google does not care much about your link position, but I would recommend you place the link in the most header section (view from source code perspective) as much as possible. It could help you in a long run.

 

header is the best.footer is not that good

 

Put your links in your content text. It is the best.
