I don't know if this has already been discussed or been posted but I just wanted to know if book marking sites to google bookmark or similar sites really help in link dev. and if it does how? Thx John
"Google Bookmark" is not so social bookmark like Reddit.. or Digg.. for example I rarely have had incoming traffic from a Google Bookmark , never an incoming link From Social bookmarking sites you can have (few to huge) traffic, and the link development is made mostly from people posting your site on their blogs / forums (but only if they find your article interesting)
Thanks for reply, I know some of the bookmarking sites do give you traffic if your articles are worth reading, just didn't know if google bookmarks did any thing apart for personal use.
I personally think they are looking at it... I mean, they read your mail to give you in context ads, why not read your bookmarks to deliver better SERP or PR or something? Of course it's pure speculation...but why not bookmark your own sites, it'll only take a few moments, and certainly can't hurt. I can say though, that the bookmarks are not public (as far as I know) so the only traffic they will bring is Direct (as you click into your own site).
Social Bookmarking can give u more traffic but ; your title,description,tags etc should be more attractive !
Google could use its data on how many visitors bookmark your site as a way to determine if people like your site. It could be one of the factors they use in giving your site's pages higher or lower rankings in their search results.
Nice theory it can be verified boomarking a new website in Google bookmarks. No links or other standard way for GoogleBot to discover it. If it gets indexed this GoogleBookmarks theory could be true.
Agree 100% - you never know with modern search engines, that are using all the stuff reachable to deliver better search results.
