Hi I know Google has a 'penalty 30' - I've experienced that myself. Still have 1 site I can't seem to get that removed from. In the last update though, I have a site where I've enjoyed number one ranking for certain key phrases for years but now they are very poor for those phrases, other pages on my site beating the home page ranking. Lesser phrases still rank well including some number one spots. It seems to be that the most popular (linked to) phrases are penalised. I feel that perhaps Google has perceievd that I have paid links, which I don't, but I am struggling to come up with any other explaination. Any ideas?
