Does anyone know if Google Analytics counts the "google bot crawlers" or any other search engine crawler bots as visits? Also I have a site where currently 30% of the traffic is coming from search engines, 24% is coming from direct traffic, and 45% is coming from referral sites? Is it bad that majority of the traffic from this site is coming from referral sites? I consider myself a newbie, the site has only been up 2 months now and I still trying to figure out a few things.
With things like traffic origin and bounce rate, there are no defined terms about what is good and what is bad especially when they can vary depending on the type of website you have. The most important things you should be concentrating on with a new site is the actual level of traffic and if your keywords continue to get ranked higher by the search engines.
referel sites are always good cuz it shows that your site links aere widespress across the net and that is why you are going to get the visits from that.....
I'm sure bots and crawlers don't get counted in Analytics - it wouldn't be a useful metric for most web devs or marketers... if you want to see how frequently bots visit your site, Google Webmaster Tools can tell you this.
I think bot/spider do not get counted. It is good to get referral traffic is good, it means you website link is widespread and may get converted into backlinks sooner or later.
Bots are not counted because they don't execute Javascript. Users without Javascript are similarly not counted.
