Well, I have seen people using TLA with adsense. Initially it may not seem harmful but there is one point that you can't ignore. Few months back it was noticed that google targeted those sites which were using TLA and consequently there PR got dropped. So, it can be said that one can use TLA along with adsense but at the cost of PR loss.

But does page rank affects that much?
It should be good as long as you are going nice.

    Competitive Ads and Services
In order to prevent user confusion, we do not permit Google ads or search boxes to be published on websites that also contain other ads or services formatted to use the same layout and colors as the Google ads or search boxes on that site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads cannot be confused with Google

Google bans the sites selling thetext link ads. Many of my friends lost their page rank after selling link space in their blogs and sites. So,be careful while selling link ads.

google.com and adsense are two different things.
there is no rule in the adsense TOS that says you can't sell links on your site,but...
be careful of the links that people buy on your site.
links are content.if you link to a type of site that adsense wouldn't be allowed on,your site may be against the TOS for linking to such sites.
