What do you mean if they support .torrent file? Of course you can upload it and have your visitors download it, so yes, they must support .torrent files. The issue comes with the questionable content in these torrent files and whether you're distributing content you have legal rights to do so with.
i put some torrent files on my article and when i download it, can only download 1.5kb and finish(the real file is about 50kb),dont know what's the problem...???
Have you tried from several locations? Have you checked the file size/permissions on the server itself? Try renaming the file to something with a different extension than .torrent and see if you can download it then.
yeah i tried several types, txt xls doc pdf rar zip,all can download normally, just this torrent is a problem, people say we should set up a MIME file to define this .torrent ? but how???
My problem solved, the godaddy havn't setup the torrent mime, copy these code in notepad and save as web.CONFIG file, upload to your hosting and done: <configuration> <system.webServer> <staticContent> <mimeMap fileExtension=".torrent" mimeType="application/x-bittorrent" /> </staticContent> </system.webServer> </configuration> my website is: http://www.sankouys.com/ thanks for all.
Yes, for torrent files you have to setup a MIME type on the most hosters. Anyway, most companies look at torrent files with suspicion, so take care
Torrents sites are not allowed to host in GoDaddy. You might need to check for a off shore web host that allows to host torrent sites. But you may have to face legal problems with this kind of sites. Therefore you must give your attention for that too.
Many hosting companies do not support torrent, they straight away say No to torrent hosting. I am not pretty sure whether Godaddy allows or not but I would suggest you to check it with their support/sales team for confirmation. Imho, an off shore hosting company is the right choice for torrent hosting.
